Miles Davis is part of the musical DNA of trumpet player Nicolas Folmer, who was one of the few musicians who were produced by Teo Macero, legendary and historical producer of the “Prince of Darkness” and who also shared the stage with a few from his partners such as John Lewis, Rene Urtreger, but also Dave Liebman and Rick Margitza …
Thus, what is more essential for this trumpet player, arranger and composer at the top of his art than to launch a new challenge: tackle to this musical Everest that is the universe of Miles Davis and to propose its real reappropriation. It is not a question of proposing yet another homage to Miles Davis: the challenge is to venture into the inexhaustible wealth of his work, to explore every nook and cranny to better free himself from it and to offer his own visions and musical metaphors.
