Hooverphonic live concert: passion, rhythm and movement, reawakening of old impressions. Videos

I had not heard any new Hooverphonic albums, I had somehow lost track of them. So, when I saw the announcement of the concert in Yerevan, I simply received a ticket as a gift and went to the concert without any special expectations.

It was a pity that the previous day there had also been a joint concert of Hooverphonic with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the artistic director and principal conductor was Eduard Topchyan, and I was in Prague, although I enjoyed Dvorak’s 9th Symphony there.

Already on May 8, the Armenian and Armenian guest audience at the Aram Khachaturian Philharmonic Grand Concert Hall were greeted with loud applause.

They started with “In Wonderland,” and that’s where they managed to take me to the third song, a completely stripped-down version of “Vinegar & Salt,” performed by Little Teenz, so manly vocals, and I think it was the best performance of the song I’ve heard to date. Next, they delved into “Stranger”…

They continued to show off their full range of abilities, from the most popular songs to some lesser-known ones, some of which were presented in such a new way that it felt like we were listening to them for the first time, which is always a bummer for me when a band that’s been around for 20 years keeps reinventing itself and taking their music to a new level.

Other highlights for me were God’s Gift, We all float, Jackie Cane, Mad About You, 123, Badaboum and You love me to Death, in which the singer Lisie Sadonis was simply so passionate, although she was dressed from the neck to the toes, only her arms were open, but her body was floating in tune with the music, and her vocals matched the whole music, it was simply amazing.

The evening was characterized by a clear sound and an atmospheric light show, so I also give kudos to their crew. It was not an easy task, considering the incomparably large size of the stage and the 6 musicians on stage.

They basically played their entire career for about 2 hours, and in my opinion, it could not have been better. Except, as always, for a rather motionless audience. Maybe that was also the reason for their slogan: Sit down and listen to Hooverphonic, or maybe it was something else, they were not very familiar with the repertoire of this Belgian band. True, they were clapping as if there were several thousand people, but they simply did not dance.

As for the feeling on stage, it seemed that everyone had a great time, I personally can’t wait to see them again, and until then I will listen to their releases on record. And, excuse me, one more thing, it’s a pity that after the concert we waited for a long time near the singer’s rest room to thank her, just to have a look and why not take a picture, but Liesje Sadonious never left the room, another pity.
