The 1957 festival was highlighted by the first postwar appearance behind the Iron Curtain of West German musicians, including Joki Freund, and the Mangelsdorff brothers, Emil and Albert, plus the sensational performance of the American shouter Big Bill Ramsey that launched the rock and roll frenzy in Poland.
