The Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival returns to the streets of Boston on Saturday, September 30, 2017. The free festival, which is curated by drummer, producer and Berklee faculty member Terri Lyne Carrington, takes place from noon to 6 pm on Columbus Avenue between Massachusetts Avenue and Burke Street in Boston’s historic South End neighborhood.
Headliners include: Lizz Wright, Jazzmeia Horn, Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Trio, Mehmet Ali Sanlikol and What’s Next, Emily Estefan, Oscar Stagnaro and the Peruvian Tinge and several others. In addition, the Corea/Gadd Band will perform a ticketed concert on Sunday at Berklee Performance Center.
For the fourth year the Blue Man Group Boston Drum-Off will be held during the festival. In this competition, five finalists will perform for the festival audience as well as a judges’ panel. The winner will perform live with Blue Man Group and will receive more than $6,000 in prizes. Jarrell Campbell, a student at Berklee, was last year’s winner.
