Kenny Garrett’s career began in 1978 when he was called by Duke Ellington’s orchestra conducted by Duke’s son, Mercer Ellington. Three years later he plays with Mel Lewis and later with Dannie Richmond. During his career he has played and recorded with great jazz personalities such as Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, McCoy Tyner, Pharoah Sanders, Brian Blade, Marcus Miller, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, Ron Carter, Elvin Jones, Kenny Kirkland and Mulgrew Miller.
