George Garzone, stalwart tenorman and hero of Boston’s thriving jazz scene, performs with The Berklee Global Jazz Ambassadors.
The program at Berklee’s Cafe 939 The Red Room on Monday featured “The World of Garzone,” a selection of the saxophonist’s favorite original compositions. The performers in the Berklee Global Jazz Institute are among the college’s finest graduate students, many of whom hail from all over the globe.
The Berklee Global Jazz Amassadors are: Ilya Blazh on drums (Russia), Milena Casado on flugelhorn and trumpet (Spain), Faris Ishaq on Arabic flute (Palestine), Nick Isherwood (U.S.A.), Anastassiya Petrova on acoustic and Fender Rhodes piano (Kazakhstan), Matt Stubbs on clarinet (U.S.A.), and Noam Tanzer on bass (Israel).
