Every year the Dutch Blues Foundation (DBF) presents an Award for the Best Dutch Blues CD. Thirteen Dutch blues acts will register their new CD in 2023.
The jury, consisting of presenters of blues radio programs and critics, assessed all CDs on blues content, mix, originality/own sound and general impression.
The public could vote digitally for the three with the most points in February. More than 500 blues enthusiasts took advantage of this and ‘Change Myself’ by Robbert Duijf was the favorite.
The other two nominees were ‘LIVE’ by The Twelve Bar Bluesband and ‘Carry On!’ by Lefthand Freddy.
Reactions from the jury:
This is BLUES!. Certainly original and authentic.
Wonderful old Blues, with lots of variety. Well-intelligible texts.
Finally I reviewed this CD, what a surprise, beautiful songs, beautiful singing with a singer, wonderful, cultivated Mississippi hill side blues.
Robbert Duijf won the Dutch Blues Challenge last October and will represent the Netherlands with his band at the European Blues Challenge on April 4, 5 and 6, 2024 in Braga, Portugal.
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, Robbert will receive the Dutch Blues CD Award during the Dutch Blues Challenge in TivoliVredenburg Utrecht.
