International Jazz Day culminates in an All-Star Global Concert, held this year at Hamer Hall in Melbourne, Australia. The concert will be webcast below, and via UNESCO or JazzDay.com, at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Its artistic co-directors are pianist Herbie Hancock, chairman of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, and trumpeter James Morrison, founder of the James Morrison Academy of Music. As always, the musical director for the evening is pianist John Beasley.
The concert’s performers hail from nearly a dozen countries. They include: William Barton (Australia), A Bu (China), Igor Butman (Russia), Eli Degibri (Israel), Aditya Kalyanpur (India), Ledisi (USA), Jane Monheit (USA), Eijiro Nakagawa (Japan), Mark Nightingale (United Kingdom), Chico Pinheiro (Brazil), Tineke Postma (Netherlands), Antonio Sánchez (Mexico), Lizz Wright (USA), and Tarek Yamani (Lebanon).
