Bobby Rush wins Grammy for Best Traditional Blues album: Video, Photo

“I’ll treasure this in honor of Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Tyrone Davis, Johnnie Taylor, all the guys that came before me that I looked up to,” longtime bluesman Bobby Rush said after taking the stage to accept his third Grammy.

The 90-year-old icon won the Best Traditional Blues Album category for his 29th studio album, All My Love For You.

Across the ten tracks steeped in his signature soul and funk-blues, he blends life narratives with comical metaphors about love and relationships. In case you missed it, Rush premiered the video for “I Want To” on American Blues Scene, telling us, “This is one song that I think would be good for both sides of the fence of my audiences. I don’t think a song has been written like this since the early days of Al Green. I think it’s going to reach a very diverse audience…”

The album was produced by Rush; mixed and engineered by Dexter Allen with additional mixing by Joey Robinson; and mastered by Chef Flynn. Musicians featured are Bobby Rush on vocals, harmonica and guitar; Dexter Allen on guitar and bass; and Joey Robinson on keyboard and drums.
