Since returning from the USA, guitarist Philipp van Endert has established himself as a distinct and unmistakable voice in the current jazz scene. He has played numerous tours and recordings throughout America and Europe, and has followed invitations from many international festivals including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival, The Hague Jazz, Jazz Sur Son / Toulouse, Ankara Jazz Festival and the Leverkusen Jazz Festival.
His energetic and at the same time lyrical guitar playing is documented on over 40 CD releases and has him with jazz greats like Mike Stern, Danny Gottlieb, Lajos Dudas, Jarek Smietana, Karl Berger, Gerd Dudek, Kenny Wheeler, Adrian Mears, Rick Margitza, Philip Catherine uva brought together. Nomination for the German Record Prize 2006 in the Jazz category with the production Philipp van Endert Trio – KHILEBOR (JazzSick Records), winner of the Steven D. Holland Memorial Scholarship, the Berklee Guitar Department Achievement Award and recipient of the Culture Prize of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Capital Düsseldorf (1996) , Since 2009, Philipp van Endert has also worked as a lecturer in jazz guitar at the Institute of Music and Media at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf and, since 2014, additionally at the Institute of Music at the University of Osnabrück.
Christian Kappe plays trumpet and flugelhorn in the bands of u.a. Trilok Gurtu, Barbara Dennerlein, Jasper van’t Hof and Eda Zari. Scholarship holder at the Berklee College of Music, USA and the Conservatories The Hague / Rotterdam. With the “Bujazzo” / Peter Herbolzheimer and own groups tours in Europe, North, South America u. Africa. Master classes at u.a. Kenny Wheeler, Dave Liebman and Kenny Werner in Banff, Canada. Winner of the Int. Jazz competitions of the Netherlands, Germany and Spain and the 1st Jazz Prize Ruhr. Cap taught u.a. at the Musikhochschule Leipzig and the University Osnabrück and works at the Musikhochschule Münster. Winner of various competitions and the WDR Jazz Prize 2016 as director of the youth jazz orchestra “UniJAZZity”. TV and radio productions for NDR, WDR, MDR, HR, BR, RBB and DLF as well as abroad. The bassist and composer André Nendza belongs through his continuous work with a variety of own projects as well as a popular sideman to the most distinguished musicians of the German music scene. The bassist worked live and / or in the studio with musicians such as Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Rick Margitza, Paolo Fresu, Dominique Pifarély, Charlie Mariano, Mike Walker, Dave Pike, Rob van den Broeck, Zoltan Lantos.
Nendza’s bass playing has been documented on over 60 recordings (including 14 under his own name) as well as various radio and TV recordings. Features in all relevant German “Jazz Media”. Own label “Jazzsick Records” with Philipp van Endert.
André Nendza has given countless concerts at home and abroad. He played at the Leverkusen jazz days, Jazzfest Berlin, Festival Moers, Enjoy Jazz, “Winterjazz” at Stadtgarten Cologne, Jazzfestival Stuttgart, Festival Besançon (F), Lille (F), Festival Ankara (TÜ), Rejkjavik (IS) and Jazz Festival The Hague (NL). In 1997, Nendza was awarded the Culture Prize of the Sparkassenstiftung NRW. In 2012 Nendza received the ECHOJAZZ in the category “Bass, national” for his album “Rooms restored”. In 2014 he wins the finale of the “New German Jazz Prize” with “Tria Lingvo”. Nendza studied at the Jazz Department of the Musikhochschule Köln (Diploma 1997). His name is also present as an educator: since 1997 he has been the “pre-study jazz” of the Cologne “Open Jazz House School”, Cologne and belongs to the permanent lecturer team of the course “jazzemble” in the Academy Remscheid.
